Mission Statement
JMPScreenworks.com has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the media practice community. Its aim is to provide an exciting and creative space for a wide variety of contributions from both the academic and professional media communities.
At a time when an increasing amount of publishing is being conducted online this website will provide a space for academics to try out their ideas - perhaps prior to publication elsewhere or in place of it. Shorter pieces may be published here to trail bigger concepts or to provide an instinctual response to the media. JMPScreenworks will build upon the traditions of excellence established by the Journal of Media Practice to offer writers a chance to reflect and respond to media stories as they are happening. The interview facility will provide another space for the expression of up-to-the minute views on what is occurring in the media landscape.
The Screenworks section will offer a space for the transmission of contemporary work much of which may be linked to the practice content of REF submissions. The news stories will provide readers with the latest information in all fields ranging from the technological innovation to contemporary programming.
Our aim is to do what paper-based publishing is unable to do - provide an exciting and responsive service to media practice communities.
We welcome your comments and of course your contributions.
Symposium
The Journal of Media Practice hosts an annual symposium. This year it was organised by the University of the West of England, Bristol on the theme of 'Postdigital Encounters: Creativity and Improvisation'. Visit the blog where you can find the full programme, abstracts and presentations.
